Gentoo Hal

Fixed drives

Problem: Your fixed drives aren’t mountable by tools like nautilus.

Solution: hal-0.5.11-r2 added a policy file that sets volume.ignore for fixed disks ([1]). Copy the file /usr/share/hal/fdi/policy/10osvendor/99-storage-policy-fixed-drives.fdi to /etc/hal/fdi/policy/99-storage-policy-no-fixed-drives.fdi, open that file and look for,

<merge key="volume.ignore" type="bool"><b>true</b></merge><br />

Change true to false and restart the HAL Daemon.
